Goober turned out to be a very useful and robust all terrain robotics platform, and ran flawlessly up to a mile away from the base station all day on a single battery charge. I used this robot for experimental guidance systems consisting of object recognition and infrared tracking as well as a few GPS experiments that worked quite well. Goober could perform the job of night time security guard, daytime explorer and trade show entertainment robot, so all in all it was a fun project to have around. In the future, I intend to build a much larger version of this ROV that will include autonomous navigation, 4 wheel drive, self charging capabilities, and possible some self-defense for autonomous security operations around the yard.
